In Memory and Celebration

In a very real sense, we have each lost "one of our own."

As we mourn the loss of life and innocence, let us also celebrate and pay tribute to the spirits of those we will miss and those whom we will not have the opportunity to know. They have profoundly touched our lives, whether we knew them as loved ones or as yet unmet friends.

As we extend our heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of the victims, we extend our prayers to the entirety of our human family -- that we may, all of us, find the peace within that seeks expression through acts of peace, compassion, and love.

Seattle, Washington

Beginning Saturday, September 15, 2001, people gathered around the fountain at the Seattle Center in Washington State for a vigil that is still underway.

Thousands of people brought flowers, signs and good will. As gentle flute music was played through speakers surrounding the fountain, men, women and children spoke in hushed tones.

The connections we talk about on intellectual levels became visible. As eyes occassionaly met, words were uneccessary to express what was felt, what brought us all together.

Unity is a reality.
