I learned that a mandala starts from the middle and expands out like a tree trunk.

I learned that I am a mandala and also that everyone is connnected by atoms which are mandalas.

I learned that Chinese people made mandalas and put a lot of effort in them and at the end they destroy them. They destroyed it to make themselves not attached to everything they own.

We are similar to Chinese because we both play baseball and we both make mandalas. The roofs of houses in China are curved up on the corners.

I liked making the mandalas and how Mrs. C. put a lot of effort into teaching us about mandalas.

Note: This mandala was made in a Mandala Project workshop called "Chinese-American Mandala" in May, 2000. After a presentation on Chinese culture, each student created a mandala with symbols from both Chinese and American cultures and then wrote about their experience. Read more about the workshop.
