I learned that a mandala starts in the middle and expands out. I also learned that mandalas are the most important thing in the world because everything is made of molecules and molecules are mandalas. I of course learned that I am a mandala because everything is made of mandalas. I also learned that I am connected to everything because air is made out of the same molecules as we are. I learned that not all Chines cultures and heroes are different from ours. Take Jackie Chan - he is from China and he is a popular actor here. Chinese people are similar in a sense in that they play some of the same sports we do. We have one thing in common and that is very obvious. We both have department stores. We are different in some of our religions. The thing I liked the most about the workshop was creating the small mandalas. I liked that because it wasn't too simple and it wasn't too hard. Note:
This mandala was made in a Mandala Project
workshop called "Chinese-American Mandala" in May, 2000. After
a presentation on Chinese culture, each student created a mandala with
symbols from both Chinese and American cultures and then wrote about their
experience. Read more about the
workshop. |
