I learned that a mandala is a circle with pictures and words describing something. Everything is a mandala.I learned that I am a mandala and that I am made up of atoms.

I learned that Chinese people wear red to symbolize wealth. Chinese people are similar to Americans because we both talk and we are human beings. We both speak different languages. We both live on earth.

I liked learning how we both have so much in common even though we live far away from each other.

Note: This mandala was made in a Mandala Project workshop called "Chinese-American Mandala" in May, 2000. After a presentation on Chinese culture, each student created a mandala with symbols from both Chinese and American cultures and then wrote about their experience. Read more about the workshop.
